It’s time to get raking in Oakville.

The Town of Oakville’s fall loose leaf collection begins Oct. 24 and runs through to Dec. 2nd of this year.

Schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather.

Loose leaves will be collected from designated areas in Oakville as follows (zones are defined at the bottom of this story):

  • October 24 to 28: Zones 1, 2, 3 and 7
  • October 31 to November 4: Zones 4, 5, 6 and 8
  • November 7 to 11: Zones 1, 2, 3 and 7
  • November 14 to 18: Zones 4, 5, 6, 8 and A
  • November 21 to 25: Zones 1, 2, 3, 7, B and C
  • November 28 to December 2: Zones 4, 5, 6 and 8

New this year, areas adjacent to “mature woodlots” (zone 1 and B) will receive one collection as part of expansion areas.

Bagged leaf collection

Halton Region collects bagged leaves and yard waste on the same day as regular garbage pickup from April to mid-December each year. This is a separate program from the Town of Oakville’s loose leaf collection service. Call 311 or visit the Halton Region website for more information on your yard waste collection schedule.

Loose leaf collection  guidelines

  • Collection may occur any time during a scheduled week.  To ensure your leaves are collected, put them out by 7 a.m. on the first day of collection in your zone.
  • To help keep leaves from blowing around your neighbourhood, please do not put out leaves more than seven days before the first day of a scheduled week for your zone.
  • Place all loose leaves on the boulevard or on the shoulder to ensure traffic on the road/bike lanes can pass safely.
  • Do not place leaves over catch basins/storm drains, in bicycle lanes or in the ditches in front of your house. If there are leaves blocking a catch basin/storm drain, please clear them away.
  • Please keep leaf piles separate and away from any woody debris including large twigs, brush and branches, rocks, pumpkins, garbage and vehicles. Contaminated piles of leaves that have been put out will not be collected and/or piles that have been put out after the collection dates will not be picked up.  They should be placed in paper yard waste bags for Halton Region Collection.
  • Once the street has been collected we will not return until the next scheduled pick-up.
  • Entrance roads and/or the cul-de-sac may be completed separately and on different days during collection week due to the various types of equipment used.
  • There are areas where the program is not offered since the number of mature trees does not warrant the bulk leaf pickup service.  We assess these areas on a regular basis to review if they should be added to the program.
