Santa’s big day in Oakville could use some sponsors.

The Town of Oakville is looking for sponsorship for the in-person return of this year’s Santa Claus parade to be held Nov. 19 at 9 a.m.

The popular event is returning after a two-year hiatus due to the COVID-19 pandemic and relies on community support.

Sponsoring the parade, the Town says, is a “fantastic way” to give back to the community as well as receive great exposure to local residents.

Financial contributions of any amount are also being accepted. Amounts higher than $20 will receive a tax receipt.

“The Oakville Santa Clause Parade Committee is actively looking for participants, sponsors and volunteers to help make this year’s parade extra special for our community,” said Santa Claus Parade Committee Chair and Ward 2 Councillor Cathy Duddeck.

“We look forward to seeing the joy and smiling faces that line the parade route.”

The parade is also accepting applications for floats, walking groups, marching bands, and volunteers for costumed characters and more.

The application deadline is Nov. 6, 2022. The Best Overall Float will receive free entry in the 2023 parade.

Local residents can visit the Oakville Santa Claus Parade website here for sponsorship, application and event details.

“Although we enjoyed meeting with Santa Claus virtually over the last two years, we’re excited that he’ll be returning to Oakville to spread holiday cheer for our community parade,” said Oakville Mayor Rob Burton.

The first Santa Claus parade in Oakville was organized in 1948 by Bill Hughes, then President of the Junior Chamber of Commerce.

The theme of this year’s parade will be Christmas around the World to recognize holiday traditions from all cultures and countries. Attendees are encouraged to dress in their favourite holiday attire.

Local residents can take the free Santa shuttle from the Oakville Go Station to the parade. It will run every five to 10 minutes, starting at 8 a.m.
