Oshawa Generals take five of six points on opening weekend

The Oshawa Generals took five out a possible six points on their opening weekend after a 4-2 win over the Kingston Frontenacs at the Tribute Communities centre Sunday night.
Oshawa opened their season on the road Thursday and came out on the winning end of a 2-1 score and then came flying out of the gate the next night for their home opener against the Ottawa 67s, scoring twice in the first three minutes. But Ottawa came storming back to make it a game and it took a breakaway goal from Thomas Stewart in the third period to send the game to extras and salvage at least a point for the Generals.
Ottawa would go on to win in a shootout.
Ryan Gagnier (back for his overage season) and Calum Ritchie scored the early goals for Oshawa. Nikita Parfenyuk scored late in the first to tie the game and Cameron Butler (also in his overage season) scored to tie the back and forth game once again in the second. Stuart Rolofs had the other Oshawa goal.
Sunday’s game put Oshawa back in the win column.
Luke Torrance scored his first of the season to open the scoring, Patrick Leaver made a spectacular toe save for the OHL Save of the Night and projected NHL first-rounder Ritchie sealed the victory with an empty netter for the Gens.
