OPP have made an arrest following a lengthy investigation into over a hundred thefts at LCBO stores.

The multi-jurisdiction investigation began when police noticed an increase in LCBO thefts within the Nottawasaga and Dufferin areas of southern Ontario.

“Investigators have estimated a loss over $70,000,” said OPP.

On Tuesday, Sept. 27, police raided a Mississauga residence and found evidence related to the thefts.

Matthew Doucette, 39, has been arrested with 10 outstanding arrest warrants related to LCBO thefts.

Police say he is linked to 144 LCBO thefts this year.

He is currently charged with eight counts of theft under $5,000 and four counts of breach of probation.

The investigation was carried out by the OPP’s Nottawasaga detachment, with assistance from the Dufferin and Caledon detachments.
