Here’s which roads will be closed, bus detours set for Oakville Half Marathon

The Oakville Half Marathon takes to the streets Sunday morning and that means road closures and detours for local bus routes.

The 16th annual run returns after two years of virtual competition. Over 1,400 runners will follow a planned route with the Half Marathon and 10k run set to begin at 7:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at Shell Park.

The marathon will take runners west along Lakeshore Road from Shell Park to Burloak Dr., before turning back and heading East through Bronte and all the way down past Appleby College to Brookfield Dr.

The run will result in the closure of Lakeshore Rd. W. between Bronte Rd. and Great Lakes Blvd.

Oakville Transit’s Route 14 and 14A (see graphic below) will be detoured from the start of service until approximately 11 a.m.

Route 14 West will use Lakeshore Rd., Bronte Rd., Rebecca St. west to Burloak Dr., south to Lakeshore Rd., east to Great Lakes Blvd. to regular route.

Route 14 East will use Great Lakes Blvd. south to Lakeshore Rd., west to Burloak Dr., north to Rebecca St., Bronte Rd, Lakeshore Dr. to regular route.

Route 14A East/West will use Lakeshore Rd., Bronte Rd., Rebecca St., Great Lakes Blvd., Lakeshore Rd. and Burloak Dr.

The 5k run begins at 7:45 a.m., followed by the Timbits 2k at 10:30 a.m.
