4 different brands of salad products recalled for pieces of plastic in Mississauga, Brampton and area

Shoppers in Mississauga and Brampton should be aware of a recent recall involving salad products. Brands including Compliments and President’s Choice are recalling salad products due to pieces of plastic in the greens.

Also recalled this week is a Spalding at-home basketball net, apple juice, and an epoxy kit.

Various brands of salad products

Risk: Various brands of salad products recalled due to the presence of pieces of plastic. Those brands include: Compliments, Fresh Attitude, President’s Choice, and Your Fresh Market.

Organic spring mix, spring mix, baby spinach, baby arugala, and baby kale blend are examples of just some of the salad products recalled.

What you should do: Do not use, sell, serve or distribute the affected products. Immediately put recalled products in the garbage.


Spalding Momentous EZ Portable Basketball Goal

Risk: The Spalding momentous EZ portable basketball goal is recalled due to an impact hazard.

Welds in the arm attaching the backboard to the pole may fail and cause the backboard to fall, posing an impact hazard.

As of September 20, 2022, the company has received no reports of incidents or injury in Canada. In the United States, the company has received 2 reports of the backboard detaching, leading to injury.

The company reported that 62 units of the affected product were sold in Canada from March 2022 to April 2022.

What you should do: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled portable basketball goal and contact the company to arrange for a technician to remove the original arm and install a replacement arm.


Eden brand Organic Apple Juice

Risk: Eden brand organic apple juice is recalled due to the presence of patulin. Patulin is a toxic antibiotic that is derived from the metabolites of certain fungi, such as Aspergillus, Penicillium, and Gymnoascus, and has carcinogenic activity.

What you should do: Do not use, sell, serve or distribute the affected product.


Krystal Epoxy Resin Tabletop & Art Epoxy Kit

 

Risk: The lack of child-resistant packaging and appropriate labelling information could result in unintentional exposure to the products and lead to serious illness or injury, including death. The recalled products do not meet the labelling requirements and the child-resistant packaging requirements of the Consumer Chemicals and Containers Regulations, 2001 under the Canada Consumer Product Safety Act.

Each kit contains epoxy resin and hardener components that are designed to be mixed together. This product is meant for tabletops and artwork and comes in five kit sizes (250 mL, 500 mL, 1 L, 1 gallon and 2 gallons)

The company reported that 500 units of the affected product were sold in Canada from May 2021 to May 2022.

What you should do: Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled product, keep them out of reach of children and contact the company for a free repair kit, which includes a child resistant cap and updated labels.
