A photo by Sonja Hie-Hardy while paddling the Credit River on Aug. 11, captures a green glowing image.

A glowing green figure captured in a photo of the Credit River has some speculating the river is haunted.

Port Credit kayaker Sonja Hie-Hardy says she took a photo while paddling the river at night with a near full moon on Aug. 10. She captured the image on the west side of the river, near some large homes, before the Port Credit Lighthouse is visible.

She posted the photo in the Facebook group, Port Credit Life.

“Yikes…i took this coming in on the river at night tonight. Please zoom in on the glowing green spot…wth,” she wrote.

She tells insauga that the figure looks a bit like a “jilted” bride. Others agreed.

“Ooohhhh..it looks like a bride with her veil and bouquet..” one person wrote.

“Our very own Port Credit ghost lady,” another said.

Others speculated that this is “a trick of the light.”

Another suggested it is lens flare caused by shooting towards a light source. It appears green because of the anti-reflective coating on the lens.

Lens flare can cause “polygon-shaped aperture ghosts,” according to Photography Life. Red or green orbs or other objects appear when there are reflections from a bright source.

Hie-Hardy has posted many other photos of the river — including deer, birds and other wildlife.
