Parents in Mississauga and Brampton are cautioned to look twice at their infants toys as Health Canada recalls a silicone, bear-shaped, baby mirror activity toy that poses a serious laceration hazard

Also recalled this week is Circle K’s classic potato chips and some Crescent brand halal sliced meat. See below for more information about the individual recalls.

Konges Sløjd brand Silicone Baby Mirror Bear Activity Toy

Risk: A silicone, bear-shaped, baby mirror activity toy is recalled due to a laceration hazard. The mirror can come out of the silicone bear cover if pushed, exposing sharp edges of the mirror.

The company has received one report of an incident in Denmark where the child cut their gums and the corner of their mouth.

The wobbler/tumble toy is made of silicone, is inflated with air and has a mirror glued in the center opening which measures about 3 inches in diameter. Embossed on the bottom of the toy is the company logo, address and the words “Designed in Denmark, made in China.”

There were reportedly 18 units of the affected product sold in Canada from October 2021 to April 2022.

What you should do: Immediately take the toy away from children and contact Konges Sløjd for a full refund. For more information, visit Konges Sløjd’s website here.

Circle K brand Classic Potato Chips

NOTE: The bag of chips pictured here is not the exact same as the chips that are recalled. The recalled chips are classic potato chips and these are all-dressed. Image source: Circle K’s website.

Risk: Circle K brand classic potato chips are recalled due to undeclared milk. Failing to claim the presence of milk on the label puts customers with milk allergies at risk. The chips are sold in 66 g bags with the following best before information included: “Best Before 2023 JA 11 1A8 21:45 to Best Before 2023 JA 11 1A8 23:10”

What you should do: Do not use, sell, serve or distribute the affected product. Immediately remove the product from shelving or from the home and throw it in the garbage.

Crescent brand pastrami and turkey breast, Tuscan flavoured

Risk: Crescent brand pastrami and Tuscan flavoured turkey breast is recalled due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination. The meat slices are sold in 175 g packages. Crescent is owned by Tony’s Meats Limited.

Food contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes may not look or smell spoiled but can still make you sick. Symptoms can include vomiting, nausea, persistent fever, muscle aches, severe headache and neck stiffness.

What you should do: Do not consume, serve, use, sell, or distribute recalled products. The meat products should be thrown out or returned to the location where they were purchased. Contact your healthcare provider if you suspect you have become sick from consuming a recalled product.
