Fire in Flamborough closes road, possibly for ‘quite some time’

A rather sizable structure fire broke out Thursday afternoon in Flamborough, leading to the closure of a Hamilton roadway.
Firefighters from Hamilton Fire Department had to shift to “defensive operations” to contain a fire on Regional Rd. 97, northwest of the urbanized part of the city. One image shared by HFD over Twitter showed that that the trailer-like structure was burned through completely.
The indication is that the fire will keep HFD busy, and possibly keep the road closed to drivers, for several hours. The fire was an open, grassy area and had potential to spread.
“We are in defensive operations at this time and expect to be on scene for quite some time,” HFD said around 3:36 p.m. on Thursday (Aug. 11).
