A Brampton truck driver has been charged after allegedly rear-ending a passenger on the weekend.

Around 7:41 p.m. on Sunday (August 7), the Elgin County OPP say officers and first responders were called to a residence on Talbot Line in Malahide Township some 40 kilometres southeast of London.

Police say a vehicle was heading westbound on Talbot Line and was waiting to turn into a driveway when the vehicle was struck from behind by a westbound transport truck.

The driver and front seat passenger of the vehicle did not suffer any injuries, but police say two passengers in the rear of the car suffered non-life threatening injuries and were transported to local area hospitals.

Police say the 29-year-old operator of the truck from Brampton was charged with careless driving.

The driver of the transport truck was not injured, and police have not released any additional details about the driver.
