$95,000 in drugs and loaded gun seized in Kapuskasing, Brampton resident charged

A Brampton resident faces drugs and weapon charges after a bust in Kapuskasing.

The charges came after police searched a home on Cournoyer Street in Kapuskasing shortly before 11:30 p.m. on Sept. 5, OPP said in a press release.

The OPP James Bay Community Street Crime Unit with the assistance of the OPP Emergency Response Team and OPP Tactical Response Unit searched the home.

Police seized drugs suspected to be cocaine, fentanyl, and crystal methamphetamine with an estimated street value of $95,000, OPP said.

Also seized was a loaded 40-caliber handgun and an undisclosed amount Canadian currency.

Laroux Aman, 34, of Brampton, faces methamphetamine, cocaine and opioid drug trafficking charges; a possession of a firearm knowing serial number has been tampered with charge; and possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000, police said.

Aman remains in custody and is scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice on Sept. 13 in Kapuskasing.
