A car theft in Burlington in January has led police to Mississauga and the arrest of a 22-year-old man.

On Jan. 11, after receiving a 911 call that a vehicle was being stolen, officers went to the scene in the area of Appleby Line and New Street.

When police arrived, two suspects were spotted running from the scene and escaped capture.

Continuing to investigate, yesterday (March 6) members of the Halton Police 3 District Criminal Investigations Bureau raided a home in Mississauga where tools used for break-ins, vehicle master keys and a quantity of drugs were seized.

As a result, Arshmit Peter, 22, is charged with the following crimes.

  • theft of a motor vehicle
  • possession of break-and-enter tools
  • possession of vehicle master keys
  • possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking

Peter has since been released from police custody and is to appear at Milton court in March.
