High winds leave thousands without electricity across Ontario

It’s going to be a wet and windy one over the next 24 hours in Mississauga and Brampton

A special weather statement in effect for:

  • Mississauga – Brampton
  • Burlington – Oakville

Heavy rainfall and strong winds will start today as rain at times will be heavy.

The total rainfall amounts of 15 to 25 mm with southwesterly winds gusting 70 to 90 km/h. There is also a risk of freezing rain.

Beginning this morning and ending overnight or early Friday morning.

Rain will begin this morning. A brief period of freezing rain is possible this morning for areas inland from Lake Ontario. Rain will taper to showers by this evening.

Strong southwesterly winds will develop this evening and diminish overnight or early Friday morning.

High winds may toss loose objects or cause tree branches to break. Isolated utility outages are possible.

Localized flooding may occur in areas of poor drainage.
