8 Mississauga neighbourhoods that have some of the highest COVID-19 percent positivity rates in Ontario

Several Mississauga neighbourhoods are among those with the highest COVID-19 percent positivity rates (percentage of positive COVID-19 tests in the area) in Ontario, according to recent data from Toronto-based research group ICES.

ICES listed 50 neighbourhoods in Ontario with the highest percent positivity rates for the week of January 17 to 23.

The following neighbourhoods are located in Mississauga:

L5W at 15.2% (area of Derry and Mavis)
5th highest percent positivity neighbourhood in Ontario 

L5R at 11.4% (area of McLaughlin and Bristol Rd W)
19th highest percent positivity neighbourhood in Ontario 

L5V at 11.4% (area of Britannia Rd W and Terry Fox Way)
21th highest percent positivity neighbourhood in Ontario 

L4Z at 10.7% (area of Hurontario and Bristol Rd E)
28th highest percent positivity neighbourhood in Ontario 

L5A at 10.6% (area of Bloor and Central Pkwy E)
29th highest percent positivity neighbourhood in Ontario 

L4Y at 9.9% (area of Tomken and Dundas St E)
41st  highest percent positivity neighbourhood in Ontario 

L4T at 9.8% (area of Goreway and Morning Star)
42nd highest percent positivity neighbourhood in Ontario 

L4X at 9.7% (area of Bloor and Fieldgate)
43rd highest percent positivity neighbourhood in Ontario 

Three notable findings

Peel remains to be the region with the highest percent positivity (9.8%) out of all of Ontario's 34 Public Health Units, followed by Toronto and York. Ontario's overall percent positivity was 4.6%.

“For all Ontario residents, the overall percent positivity among those tested for COVID-19 during the week of January 17 was 4.6% (versus 5.4% the previous week),” ICES reports.

“The percent positivity was relatively lower among persons living in long-term care homes (3.5%), compared to those not living in long-term care (4.7%).”
