The latest phase of Mississauga’s $75-million plan to build a revamped and modern marina concludes tonight.

As plans move forward for the large-scale rejuvenation of Port Credit Harbour and surrounding area, City of Mississauga officials are in a third public feedback stage of the process that began in September and wraps up Oct. 31.

Mississauga officials say a draft copy of their provincially-mandated environmental assessment (EA) related to the $75-million (estimated) project has been presented to residents and others over the past six weeks or so via the project’s latest public feedback session.

The city’s third virtual Public Information Centre collected feedback and other information related to the EA and the marina project in general.

Residents have also been invited to make suggestions regarding the final form a waterfront park will take as part of the larger marina plan.

Those interested in participating have until the end of the day today (Oct. 31) to complete an online survey available on the project website.

More details about specific design and cost related to the full-service marina and waterfront park/green space will be made available as the EA process continues, project leaders say.

The waterfront overhaul seeks to maximize the location’s advantage as Lake Ontario’s deepest natural harbour in making a new-look Port Credit Harbour a destination place, City officials have said.

Once the EA is completed in its final form, the project will move ahead, with funding one of the key matters on the table.

Mississauga is looking to provincial and federal governments for money to complete the redevelopment plan, dubbed by City staff the 1 Port Street East Proposed Marina Project.

Mississauga operates two other marinas in the city—Lakefront Promenade and Credit Village marinas.
