The winners of a massive $75 million lottery jackpot have been revealed in Canada.
The British Columbia Lottery Corporation announced that Maureen and Darrell S. from Penticton won the huge prize in the April 7 Lotto Max draw.
They were relaxing at home when they saw that someone in Penticton won the jackpot.
They checked the numbers online and quickly realized they had the lucky ticket.
“I pulled the ticket out and the numbers were lining up,” Darrell said.
“We manually referenced the winning tickets online but we needed to check at a terminal.”
The couple said they plan to celebrate their massive windfall at a gathering with family and friends.
They described themselves as “outdoorsy people” and and are planning to travel, but nothing is confirmed yet.
“We might rent a camper or maybe take a nice cruise around the world,” Maureen said.
But the couple said they are planning to give away most of their winnings.
“We will be setting a small amount aside for ourselves, and the remaining is allocated to specific charity organizations that are important to us.”
Darrell said they are “excited, but experiencing every emotion imaginable.”
The winning ticket was purchased in Penticton at Smart Shopper on Main Street and Westminster Avenue West.
