7 Hamilton neighbourhoods reporting high COVID-19 rates

Seven areas in Hamilton are among those with the highest COVID-19 percent positivity rates (percentage of positive COVID-19 tests in the area) in Ontario.

Toronto-based research group ICES listed postal code areas in Ontario with the highest percent positivity rates for the week of August 29 to September 4.

Of the top 50 listed, seven are in Hamilton:

L8K at 9.16%
24th highest positivity in Ontario

L8W at 8.82%
26th highest positivity in Ontario

L8J at 8.48%
29th highest positivity in Ontario

L8E at 8.38%
31st highest positivity in Ontario

L8V at 8.22%
32nd highest positivity in Ontario

L9A at 8.01%
35th highest percent positivity

L8T at 7.32%
48th highest percent positivity

The same data for the week indicates that out of all of Ontario’s 34 public health units, Hamilton has the third worst COVID-19 positivity in the province.

For all Ontario residents, the overall percent positivity among those tested for COVID-19 during the week of August 29 was 3.4%, an increase of 0.2% from the previous week.
