$65 million lottery has been won in this Ontario city

If you picked up a Lotto Max ticket for Friday night’s draw, you could hold a $65-million winner.

According to the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG), the jackpot-winning ticket was sold in Newmarket, marking the fourth consecutive Lotto Max jackpot win in Ontario this year.

Alongside the grand prize, there were 404,625 other Lotto Max prize winners across the province, the OLG said in a news release.

t’s been a lucky year for the GTA when it comes to lottery wins. The streak started with a $60-million ticket sold in Etobicoke on Jan. 21, followed by a $25-million jackpot claimed in Toronto’s Willowdale neighbourhood on Jan. 31, and a $40-million winning ticket sold in Oshawa on Feb. 21.

Last year, Ontario set a record with 11 Lotto Max jackpot wins. 2024 seems to be on pace to challenge that milestone.

The next Lotto Max draw takes place on Tuesday, with an estimated jackpot of $17 million.
