6 vehicle crash leaves Mississauga man dead on an Ontario highway

Road rage incident leads to 6 vehicle crash leaving one man from Mississauga dead.

A Mississauga man is dead after crashing into a pickup truck during a road rage incident last night.

The Aurora OPP responded to a six-vehicle collision on Highway 400 southbound near Simcoe Road 89 in Innisfil, Ontario shortly after 5:30 p.m.

The incident reportedly began with two southbound travelling vehicles engaged in acts of road rage, which resulted in a crash.

Police say that following the initial impact, one of the vehicles crossed the centre median into the northbound lanes, hit a pickup truck, and subsequently rolled over.

A 21-year-old man from Mississauga was pronounced dead at the scene because of injuries sustained in the collision, officials say.

The driver of the pickup truck suffered minor injuries and was taken to the hospital. Updates on his condition are currently unavailable.

No other injuries were reported among the drivers involved.

Investigators have not released further information regarding the victim and the accident.

The roads were closed off for further investigation, and by 4 a.m. this morning, all lanes of the highway had been reopened.

Authorities are currently seeking witnesses who may have dashcam footage of the incident. Anyone with relevant footage is urged to contact the Aurora OPP at 905-841-5777.
