Six schools in Mississauga were put on lockdown or hold-and-secure orders after reports of a possible shooting on Wednesday (April 19).

Around 1:25 p.m. on Wednesday, Peel Regional Police say officers were called to the area of Corliss Cres. and Darla Dr. in Mississauga. Police said they received reports of “loud bangs” and officers are investigating the incident as a potential shooting.

A police spokesperson said six schools in the area have been placed on lockdown or hold-and-secure orders.

Corliss Public School was put on lockdown, while Holy Cross Separate School, Darcel Sr. Public School, Lincoln Alexander Public Secondary School, Morningstar YMCA Daycare and the Malton Community Centre were all placed on a hold-and-secure while police are investigating.

All the lockdowns and hold-and-secures had been lifted by 3:00 p.m., and a police spokesperson said no arrests had been made.

Police are still on the scene investigating the incident and will provide updates as the situation develops.
