6 puppies abandoned on side of a rural road in Ontario

Six puppies were found abandoned on the side of a rural road in Ontario yesterday.

A passerby found the puppies in the area of Weston Road and 15th Sideroad in the Township of King on Tuesday (April 2) around 2:30 p.m., York Regional Police said in a press release.

The six puppies were in a wire cage but did not appear to be in distress, police said. The pups had no visible injuries.

They are described as being similar to a Husky breed.

The puppies were taken into the care of Animal Services in York Region where they will be receiving the necessary care and attention. The puppies are not yet ready for adoption.

The police seek witnesses who may have information about the person or people who abandoned the puppies.

The investigation is ongoing.
