Six new daily passenger trains are being added to the Kitchener GO Line that runs through both north Mississauga and Brampton taking commuters to and from Union Station in Toronto.
Starting April 7, the new GO trains will begin serving passengers who use Malton and Bramalea GO stations to access Union Station and other destinations in between, Metrolinx officials said in an email update on Thursday. Metrolinx is the provincial agency that oversees GO Transit.
The new train service will operate on the following schedule:
- 7:04 a.m. train departing Malton GO, making all stops and arriving at Union Station at 7:35 a.m.
- 7:26 a.m. train departing Bramalea GO, making all stops and arriving at Union Station at 8:05 a.m.
- 10:34 a.m. train departing Malton GO, making all stops and arriving at Union Station at 11:05 a.m.
- 6:58 p.m. train departing Bramalea GO, arriving at Union Station at 7:35 p.m.
- 7:04 a.m. train departing Union Station, arriving at Bramalea GO at 7:42 a.m.
- 6:04 p.m. train departing Union Station, arriving at Bramalea GO at 6:42 p.m.
Also along the Kitchener Line, three existing morning trips and one existing afternoon rush-hour trip will now run as express trains, transit officials said.
The six new trains are being added as a complement to the new express trips, Metrolinx added.
Meanwhile, Mississauga and Toronto commuters, and others who use the Lakeshore West Line, are also being given a heads-up to some upcoming service changes.
Changes, taking effect the first full week of April, are as follows:
- two late-evening trains will be replaced with GO buses Monday through Thursday to accommodate construction at Long Branch GO
- some trips on the Lakeshore West Line will depart up to six minutes earlier or later
- bike coaches are being added to trains that serve Niagara Falls for the spring and summer season
The service changes impacting Mississauga are among a series of changes being implemented on GO lines across the Greater Toronto Area. Some of the other changes also impact Mississauga riders.
Among other changes:
- Toronto Premium Outlets, Route 25K: This new service will connect Toronto Premium Outlets directly to the TTC subway at Kipling station. It will also connect customers to Square One and Dixie Transitway in Mississauga, as well as Renforth Transitway and Kipling GO. Service will run on weekends from April 5 to Aug. 24
- Canada’s Wonderland, routes 47 and 52: These two seasonal routes will serve Canada’s Wonderland on weekends from May 10 to Aug. 24
- Toronto Zoo, Route 96: This seasonal route will serve the Toronto Zoo on weekends from April 5 to Aug. 24
