Two men face charges after police learned a $51,000 forklift that had been stolen from a Mississauga location was being sold this week in a small Ontario town.
Perth County Ontario Provincial Police said they tracked the stolen industrial vehicle to an address in Listowell, located some 140 kilometres northwest of Mississauga, on Tuesday.
Investigators said the forklift, stolen earlier from a Mississauga property, was in the process of being sold when they determined its location.
Officers with the Huron-Perth Community Street Crimes Unit, with assistance from Perth County OPP, executed a search warrant at a property where the forklift was located, police said in a news release on Wednesday.
Police subsequently seized $11,450 in currency and also recovered the forklift, which was returned to its owner.
A 48-year-old man of North Perth is charged with possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000 and trafficking stolen property.
A 60-year-old Cambridge man is charged with trafficking stolen property.
Both accused have been released from custody and are scheduled to appear in Ontario Court in Stratford on Sept. 14, police said.
OPP said the investigation “highlights the excellent cooperation between our Community Street Crimes Unit and frontline members.”
