5 Valentine’s Day Weekend Getaways Outside of Brampton

Published January 26, 2018 at 10:09 pm

Valentine’s Day is fast approaching, and whether you think it’s a Hallmark holiday that should be shunned or you embrace it wholeheartedly with chocolate and balloons, it’s always nice to plan a romantic getaway with your boo!

The big day this year is actually on a Wednesday, so you have the option to romance your significant other either the weekend before or after (February 9-11 or 16-18). Whichever you choose, it’s best to plan ahead.

So pack your lingerie and make sure there are chocolate dipped strawberries and a big bottle of champagne — here are five Valentine’s Day weekend getaways outside of Brampton in no particular order.

5) Ste. Anne’s Spa

You could take a trip to Canada’s largest spa getaway destination in Grafton, Ont. for a truly romantic and cozy experience. “Warm Up to Winter” is this spa’s best deal for February (from $324/night), including accommodations, a wellness class, a facial, a big fluffy robe, afternoon tea, and more. Want to amp up the romance? Try the romance package (from $369/night) which includes a couple’s massage, chocolate covered strawberries, a romantic dinner, and more.

4) Blue Mountain

Looking for something a little more adventurous with your boo? Blue Mountain in Collingwood is a good option — you can go skiing, snowboarding, tubing, and even snowshoeing, and cap it all off with several bottles of wine and a big bowl pasta in the village later. There are a seven options for accommmodation in Blue Mountain, and other than booking your stay at one of them, you can leave the rest up to fate and go exploring when you get there. If you do want to level up your romance game here, I’d suggest making a reservation at the Scandinave Spa to win brownie points.

3) Sterling Inn & Spa

We couldn’t forget about Niagara – the romance capital (or so I’ve just deemed it)! This luxurious hotel has a package that’s specifically designed for couples looking to “relax and restore the positive energy of their relationship” – The Revival. It includes a one- or two-night accommodation depending on how long you want to hole up for, and a 55-minute couples massage. You can also add on some romantic features, like chocolate dipped strawberries, Niagara wine, fresh roses, rose petals, and tea lights to amp up the romance. Even if this isn’t the package for you there are a bunch of other things you can book at Sterling, whether it’s a couples massage for a side-by-side experience, or a cozy room with a jacuzzi.

2) Oban Inn

Was the Sterling Inn just not doing it for you? Take your boo even further on the road and head to Niagara-on-the-Lake instead of just plain old Niagara Falls for your romantic getaway. If you thought chocolate and wine was romantic, just wait until you get here. At the Oban Inn, you can stay at the mouth of the Niagara River, get a cozy suite — even one with a fireplace — and explore Wine Country for Valentine’s Day weekend! The Days of Wine and Chocolate run every weekend from 11 a.m.-5 p.m. and you can taste over 20 VQA wines matched with chocolate-infused dishes all weekend. Talk about romance.

1) The Drake Devonshire

If you’re feeling classy and modern this Valentine’s Day, check out the Drake Devonshire in Prince Edward County. This place is one of the top hotels in Canada, and while there is also a Drake hotel in Toronto, leaving the city to Prince Edward County makes for a nice change of scenery. And, there’s a waterfront patio where you and your s/o can get really cozy and enjoy morning lake views. Be wowed by the arts and culture through paintings, indulge in food and drinks, and stay in a gorgeous and cozy custom room — you’ll practically create your own, hip version of romance within these walls. There is a lot you can do in Prince Edward County for Valentine’s!
