When it comes to finding the perfect outfit or home decor item–or even enjoying an exceptional lunch or dinner–most people know to head to Bramalea City Centre (BCC), Brampton’s most elegant and bustling shopping centre.

But not everyone knows that BCC has an exciting history and a lot–and we do mean a lot–of incredible activities planned for the upcoming holiday season.

Without further adieu, here are five things you never knew about BCC.

5) It’s Expanded Over the Years

While it’s not abnormal for a shopping centre to grow overtime, not everyone knows that BCC underwent a pretty spectacular renovation that gave it the sleek facade it’s known for today. Back in 2010, BCC underwent a significant expansion that saw the mall grow to over 1.5 million square feet.

Now, BCC has a diverse mix of over 300 stores and services that attract more than 16 million visitors a year.

4) It’s Tech-Savvy

Need to charge your phone? BCC has got you covered with a number of smart phone charging stations.

BCC also offers shoppers its very own app, which you can download here or here. Shoppers who download the app can access information about mall hours, stores, promotions, events, contests and more. The app also offers interactive way-finding (so you’ll never get lost going from store to store) and access to BCC’s exclusive FashioniCITY Rewards Club (which offers members perks and privileges).

With FashioniCITY, over 25,000 dedicated shoppers earn “gems” for customer activities like shopping and spending time at the mall. The more gems you collect, the more perks you unlock.

In 2017, the International Council of Shopping Centres awarded the program with a silver medal for best Emerging Technology Marketing Campaign.

3) It Cares About the Environment

BCC is very proud of its sustainability track record and its ongoing ability to provide the community with a clean, green place for people to shop and work. In 2017, BCC’s conservation efforts saved the equivalent of 4,000 square feet of landfill space and over 27 million litres of water. BCC also has electric charging stations, so it’s perfect those who drive electric vehicles.

2) It’s One of Brampton’s Top Employers

Today, BCC is one of the largest employers in the city, providing almost 4,000 jobs for members of the community.

1) It’s the place to be this Holiday Season

While it might seem like we were enjoying summer weather just a few minutes ago, it’s true that the holiday season is officially upon us–and BCC is, as always, the perfect place to shop for that special someone.

Starting Nov. 16, shoppers will be able to enjoy not only the arrival of Santa Claus, but also a brand new Christmas set and holiday decor (and you’ll have to see it to understand just how fabulous and festive it really is).

BCC will also be hosting two Pet Days With Santa and a VIP Santa experience.

BONUS: It’s Open Most Holidays

Need to get some shopping done on a statutory holiday? That’s almost never a problem at BCC, as the centre stays open on most holidays (with the exception of Christmas Day and Good Friday) from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.

BCC is open the following holidays:

  • New Year’s Day
  • Family Day
  • Victoria Day
  • Canada Day
  • Labour Day
  • Thanksgiving Day

*Not all retailers may open during stat holidays, so shoppers should call and verify holiday hours with individual stores.
