Right now the cold has most of us cuddling up on the couch with a cup of hot chocolate (with Baileys, perhaps?) and Netflix, but there’s no need to fret because festival season approaches! We can’t wait for these annual festivals to hit Mississauga again this year so we can spend some quality time with friends and family in the sun with great tunes, great food and awesome vibes. Here are the top 5 festivals we are looking forward to this summer, in order of their arrivals.
Which festivals are you looking forward to this year? Let us know in the comments!

From a carnival for the kids to beer tents and blues bands for adults, Bread and Honey is an awesome family-friendly way to spend the first weekend in June. The Streetsville festival is still looking for volunteers, and anyone looking to lend a helping hand can submit their application until May 29th. This festival has been celebrated since 1973, and we can’t wait to see what this year has in store.

What’s new this year: There is an MWF Challenge throughout Port Credit that weekend, Friday night is country and Saturday is about tribute bands (Bon Jovi, AC DC and Bruce Springsteen).
Held in Memorial Park in Port Credit for its 20th year, this festivals see the south end of Mississauga come together every year by the water for carnival rides, delicious treats and great live music. Headliners in the past have included Sam Roberts, Chantal Kreviazuk and Bedouin Soundclash, so we’re excited to see who makes the cut this year. The festival has been ranked among the top 100 festivals in Ontario for the past 10 years, and attracts about 65,000 people over the span of the weekend – so this one is a definite can’t miss!

What’s new this year: There is going to be some big name DJ’s coming and Singfest is gone!
Does this one really need an introduction? The Mississauga Rotary Ribfest has always been one of our favourite events, with local vendors showcasing all types of different food, with of course, the main event: mouth-watering ribs. Last year marked Port Credit’s Buskerfest’s 10th anniversary, showcasing over 60 professional buskers, including comedians, contortionists, mimes, sword-throwers, acrobats and more. This year, we can’t wait to see what strange things are in store for the streets of Port Credit.

What’s new this year: There’s going to some ribbers there this year!
If you are a fan of rhythm and blues, then this one’s for you. The 18th annual Southside Shuffle has seen up to 75,000 people in Port Credit in past years lining up before the four stages to catch a glimpse of some of the best blues groups and artists around. While catering to more of a mature audience, this festival remains family-friendly and might even be a good way to impress a first date with your musical knowledge. Whatever the occasion, we can’t wait for the Southside Shuffle weekend!
