Mother’s Day is your mama’s special day.

And if you haven’t picked a gift, made reservations, or booked tickets don’t worry – there’s still a lot you can do.

Everyone loves celebrating their mom by doing things with her that she’d love to do, even if it’s as simple as giving her the day off from her mom duties and spending time with her.

But if you know she’d enjoy a good meal, or would love to go catch a performance or do something more outdoorsy – the Halton Region has something for almost every kind of activity.

Here are five Mother’s Day ideas in Halton.

For the mom who loves food

Is she a whiz in the kitchen? Give her a break!

It’s always exciting with a mom who loves trying different cuisines. Take her on a food tour and let her enjoy a bite at the most unique local restaurants, meet chefs and learn more about what she loves – food.

For the mom who loves history

A working museum of electric streetcars, railway vehicles, trolleybuses, the Halton County Radial Railway is a good choice to spend the day taking historic rides with a history lesson and scenic views. Grab an ice-cream and a snack for your ride and your mom will love the relaxing day.

If your mom would love a history lesson over drinks and dessert, then the Ireland House Museum is your best bet. A former homestead of the Ireland family, the museum hosts tours that are followed by a glass of champagne and desserts infused with champagne. Sounds yum!

The Oakville Museum also has incredible exhibits that you and mom can check out.

For the mom who loves the outdoors

You can always stop and admire the flowers with mom at the Royal Botanical Gardens (RBG).

If she’s already been there, done that then put on those hiking shoes and begin the Wildflower Walk for Mom offered at Milton’s Crawford Lake. Walk into the forest and take endless photos of wildflowers in all their glory. Just before the trees go into full-leaf, the forest floor has a wildflower riot under the sunny skies. And, end the walk with a light afternoon tea. You can also hike up to Rattlesnake Point and take a walk by the lake to cool off.

Isn’t it a great way to be outdoors with mom?

For the mom who loves the arts

A lovely symphony or a parody, what will your mom like? Burlington Performing Arts Centre has put up a show Symphony on the Bay – AMERICAN PROMS at 3 p.m., especially for Mother’s Day. It will feature music by the Juno-award winning artist Bob De Angelis.

There are also some incredible upcoming events at the Oakville Centre for the Performing Arts, including ‘Dancing with the Superstars’on May 29, 2019, May 30, May 31, and June 1, if you want to continue to treat mom after her special day.

For the mom who loves to eat out

You could never make mom upset with a meal out.

This year the Burlington Convention Centre is offering a special Mother’s Day Brunch, which will consist of breakfast pastries, a salad bar, a beverage station, and much more.

Of course, there are several other brunch spots in Halton, including Kerr Street CafeSpencer’s at the WaterfrontRust Bistro BarLouie’s Diner, and more.

When it comes to dinner options, the Halton Region does not fall short. Check out the Water Street CookerStone House, the Martini HousePasquale’s Trattoria, or Goodfellas in Milton.
