5 Hottest Restaurants in Mississauga: Oct 10 to 16
Here are the 5 hottest restaurants in Mississauga for the week of October 10 to October 16 , based on the amount of organic page views and searches these restaurants received on insauga.com.
You’d be forgiven if you said you’d never heard of this tucked-away gem on Enfield Place, right behind the Sussex Centre. It’s not visible from the street, but its central location and unique menu brimming with Southern Indian vegetarian cuisine puts this pleasant finding high on our list of must-visit Indian restos. The cafe, intimate and decorated in dark, rich hues, offers diners the chance to sample medu vada (a sort of savory doughnut), various dosas (crepe-like wraps) and South Indian Thali, a mini five-course meal served with a pickle, pappad, yogurt, buttermilk, sambar, rasam, poriyal, dal or kootu, gravy, rice of the day, white rice, chapati or poori and the dessert of the day. The Thali is served on a round platter with rice in the center and, despite sounding overwhelming, isn’t too much for one person to finish. Diners looking for an even more authentic experience can enjoy a masala chai (tea) after their meal. The fair price point, attentive service and highly customizable menu (you can specify spice, oil and texture level for dosas) makes this inconspicuous vegetarian resto more than worth the search.
4 - Zet’s Restaurant
This 24-hour joint serves almost everything from breakfast to burgers, but it’s known for its Greek food. I ordered the pork souvlaki and it boasted the biggest chunks of pork I have ever seen in the pork souvlaki world. The full menu includes a variety of possibilities to satisfy any individuals needs, ranging from Steak on a Kaiser, Fish and Chips, Steak Dinners, Banquet Burgers and Chicken.
3 - Heart Sushi
With two locations in Mississauga Heart Sushi is a clean and ultra modern looking restaurant with great service. They have an iPad menu system that's cleverly placed on a stand at your table so you are not fumbling around with it like I was at Sushi 168. The thing that impressed us the most was the presentation of the dishes and the actual quality of the food. This place was a perfect combo of atmosphere, quality and service. What you need to try: Try any of the sashimi as this is the only place we tried that had the sashimi plated on a bed of glowing ice. Glowing ice you ask? Not to worry. It might look like kryptonite on ice but there is just a small light illuminating the food. Talk about presentation.
2 - Bobby’s Hideaway
A nice and colourful place for the family is Bobby’s Hideaway in Streetsville. With dishes like the 1/2 pounder, Big Bobby, Weekender and Steak & Eggs, you can count on Bobby’s Hideaway to offer meaty, full-sized breakfast meals that are rich in protein along with all of the heavy carbohydrates to match it. During the day you will find everything, including veal parmesan, ribs, souvlaki, steak, seafood, pasta, smoked meat and all-day breakfast. As your kids are looking at the caricatures on the wall while eating their Sponge Bob's Fingers & Fries, you can be having the Weekender.
1 - Door FiftyFive
Imagine you've been whisked away to a Queen West bar. Since it opened just over two weeks ago, this place has been crazy. Even on weeknights, when other bars in the area are dead, this place is busting at the seams with people and with good reason. Get ready to be amazed. Every aspect of this place — including the space and menu — has been designed with the utmost thought to detail. Although the food menu is only about five per cent of entire menu (there are only 13 items), you will find interesting takes on southern classics, such as chicken and waffles, Rub Me the Right Way beef brisket, Boars Gone Wild smoked sausage, bison chipotle frank, blackened shrimp and gumbo cheddar grits and the boss platter (BBQ sampler platter). All of meat is smoked with SmokinLicious' cherry wood and sugar maple wood chips, which "gives a nice sweetness to meat."
