5) Maharaja

The Maharaja is an incredibly stunning boutique restaurant inspired by the regal beauty of India's diverse landscape of architecture and flavours. The concept offers a visual and culinary journey through three magnificent palaces of India and a menu featuring cuisine from four different regions in India. The storybook menu is divided into four regional cuisines found in India which have been influenced by various ingredients and flavours of a variety of countries including Greece, West and Central Asia and Persia. There are a number of shareable dishes and entrees highlighting the unique flavours of each region through Awadhi cuisine, classic Hyderabadi cuisine, Punjabi cuisine and Rajputana cuisine. The extensive menu caters to all palates and features distinct regional dishes presented on fine dishes such as copper bowls, slate boards, and copper tabletop grill.

4) The Open Cork Restaurant & Lounge

One of the most underrated places in Mississauga is not one you should miss—we're talking about The Open Cork, located on Dundas East just steps away from the Etobicoke border. In the summer months, the patio is phenomenal. When it’s wetter and colder out, you have a massive, modern lounge with a towering, backlit bar. The chic restaurant is perfect for a filling Italian-style meal or after-work beverage. In fact, it holds multiple Wine Spectator awards, so it's a great destination for vino. If you want to hang out in the lounge, be sure to order the cheese-laden nachos or the fabulously satisfying imported and domestic cheese platter (if you're not sharing the platter with multiple people, you will have lots to take home with you!).

3) Kage Nikkei Restobar

Watching the culinary landscape is fascinating, as cuisine--much like clothing and decor--can seemingly come in and out of fashion. For the first time, a restaurant that celebrates Peruvian food (and more specifically, Peruvian and Japanese fusion cuisine) is open in Mississauga. A few short years ago, a trip to a Peruvian restaurant meant a trip to St. Clair West or Oakville. Now, there's an option in Mississauga—and it's also great for anyone who loves non-traditional Japanese cuisine. As far as food goes, Kage—which has made its home in the 5&10 area—serves an array of Japanese and Peruvian favourites. The resto also boasts a modern interior and a satisfying cocktail menu.

2) Capra's Kitchen

Look out Mississauga! Chef Massimo Capra and his signature 'stache and big personality are in our city. Chef Massimo recently opened a restaurant called Capra's Kitchen in his hometown of Mississauga in the former Villa La Bella space along Lakeshore Rd. in the Clarkson neighbourhood. Over the past few years, it’s become a fan favourite. Chef Massimo is an accomplished celebrity chef, TV personality, author and Saugaboy who has an extensive resume. His career began when he first started toiling in kitchens in Italy. He made his way to Toronto in the early 80s and worked in a few notable fine dining establishments in the city. His brand new restaurant offers lunch, dinner and weekend brunch and his menu is full of delicious, classic Italian fare that’s sure to leave every diner satisfied.

1) Huevos Gourmet

Recently, fans of Huevos Gourmet—an absolutely incredible Mexican breakfast and brunch restaurant—were stunned to hear that the restaurant was leaving its cozy Mimico location to relocate to parts unknown. Later, we rejoiced when we learned that Huevos Gourmet chose to relocate to Port Credit. The restaurant, which opened in Feb. 2020, took shape in the old Dunk n' Dip location on Lakeshore Road East in the city's east end—not terribly far from where it was located before. Along with huevos rancheros (which is made all the more special with a heaping helping of chorizo on top), the restaurant also serves a ton of Eggs Benedict dishes (including a Mexican Benedict), Mexican omelettes, breakfast burritos, crepes, French toast and more. The Mexican Benedict (available with regular and vegan chorizo) is absolutely to die for.
