5 - Song Cook's
The best Korean restaurant in Mississauga is located on Dundas by Dixie in an unassuming plaza. Don't get confused by the sign that says "Soft Tofu" above the restaurant. The door says Song's Cook. This place looks pretty average from the outside, but once you walk in you realize how big and nicely decorated it is. This is a place where you would go out on a date or to a business meeting. The food was very fresh and we ordered the Bibimbap and the Bulgogi. The service was by far the best on this list and the resto also had private closed-off rooms for larger parties.
4 - Mississauga Marketplace Fish & Chips
Located in that huge plaza on Eglinton and HWY10 is Mississauga Marketplace Fish & Chips. When you first walk in you see that dining room is very bright, nice and inviting. You are greeted by the server who is also very nice. We got the halibut and fish, which we ordered at every resto. The fish was perfectly cooked with a crunchy golden skin that was surprisingly not greasy. The fries were fried to perfection and looked home cut. This place is the only one on the list that actually makes tartar sauce from scratch and they gave us more once we were low without asking.
3 - Union Social
Located in the northwest end of Mississauga by the huge Royal Bank building off the 401, this place is a non-chain restaurant called Union Social Eatery. The restaurant has an airy, open concept feel with a bar lined with large flat screen TVs that sits center stage. The lounge area is to the right and the dining area to the left. Our waiter was very helpful and knowledgeable and explained that everything is made in-house, including their signature sauces, in-house smoked wings and hand-cut Yukon Gold fries. You know a place is doing well when they open up their first location in Mississauga and then expand into Toronto. Usually it’s the other way around. This is the case for Union Social Eatery, who opened their second location at Yonge and St. Clair. They are doing something right along with dishing out good food!

Corner is a new cafe which combines a casual dining experience in a contemporary designed space and offers a global menu that caters to a wide variety of palates. The concept, by Spoon & Fork, is the brand’s first quick-service restaurant. The popular brand is a family run business, well known for their contribution to the Asian restaurant scene having started their first Japanese restaurant called Prince Japanese Steakhouse back in 1996. Food Menu: Corner’s Asian and European menu includes a wide variety of options that include freshly baked pastries (croissants, scones, muffins, brownies,donuts, danishes, cinnamon buns); desserts (French macarons, tarts, cupcakes, cakes); all day breakfast (benedicts, omelettes, breakfast sandwiches, pancakes, french toast); sushi trays (made fresh daily and on-site). Lissa Genobaga and Damian Kubarski are a husband and wife team who are self-proclaimed foodies and steadfast local supporters who love their community in Clarkson - an undiscovered area of the city which has a number of gems including theirs - a new brunch spot called Kravingz. Unique for: Made-from-scratch menu which supports local suppliers. They source a number of the ingredients for their dishes from local bakeries and suppliers such as Manila Bakery's specialty - a Filipino bread roll known as pandesal, produce from A.J. Lanzarotta, and other ingredients from Truscott Bakery and Sheridan Meats. Signature Dish: The Flip Side (house made longanisa which is a Filipino sausage served with crunchy garlic rice and a fried egg), The Polski Benedict (potato placki is a Polish potato pancake served with smoked salmon or peameal bacon, poached eggs and house made hollandaise), Chicken N' Waffles (crispy fried chicken served with bacon and jalapeno waffles, bacon dressing and coleslaw) and The Islander (jerk corned beef hash, corn and cheddar grits and poached eggs) are so far the most popular.
