It’s been awhile, but you may be ready to head out into Mississauga and grab some food.

However, in the past few months things have changed.

Some of your favourite spots may be gone; sadly the casualties of the pandemic.

Others may just be starting to get up and running again.

The good news is a bunch of new places have opened.

So, if you are looking for something different, we present five new places in Mississauga where you can eat.

Pasta Night  —  562 Lakeshore Rd. E.

Pasta Night in Port Credit is now open. The restaurant offers a subscription service, which delivers a full, three-course meal, including an appetizer, entree, and dessert, every Monday evening.

Subscribers can see the menu for the week in advance, and decide if they want to try the meal or skip it and wait for the following week. The meal kits are delivered right to subscribers’ doors and the service is available to residents from Scarborough all the way to Hamilton.

Additionally, the restaurant also has a daily menu, which features Italian-inspired items, such as spaghetti, bucatini, and casarecce; Caesar and Caprese salads; as well as focaccia bread, and biscotti and cannolis.

According to the restaurant, all menu items — including the hot sauce — are made in-house, from scratch.

AllStar Express  —  2905 Eglinton Ave. W.

Good news for those who love chicken wings, AllStar Wings and Ribs is now open in Mississauga.

The Mississauga location, called AllStar Express, is the seventh iteration of the chain in the GTA.

The restaurant first came to be in 2003 after president and CEO, Tom Anastopoulos, had such a positive reaction from the wings he served at a BBQ at his house, he decided to open a restaurant.

Since then, the chain has been expanding, including its latest location in Erin Mills.

While it serves many different dishes, including burgers, steaks, sandwiches and salads, it’s known for its wings.

The popular chain currently offers more than 200 different ways to enjoy its chicken wings, and it’s constantly adding new flavours.

Some of the more popular flavours include Honey Garlic, Mardi Gras, Mehican Ranchero, Prime Time, and American.

Mo Thai  —  3085 Hurontario St.

Mississauga’s newest Thai restaurant, Mo Thai, is now in Cooksville.

Mo Thai will be a takeout only location opened by Chef Mo, who runs the successful Toronto Thai restaurant Sala on the Danforth. It will be located at 3085 Hurontario St., unit 13, directly across from TL Kennedy Secondary School.

“Mississauga residents have been waiting for a place where they can get healthy, modern Thai cuisine,” said the company’s marketing director. “Chef Mo grew up in Thailand and her restaurants serve the authentic cuisine she grew up with.”

Among the classic dishes served at Mo Thai will be pad Thai, green mango salad, tom yum, curry and desserts. Opening day is tentatively scheduled for May 15.

Honey – Soul Food  —  5977 Dixie Rd

It’s food for your soul, right here in Mississauga.

Honey – Soul Food, located at 5977 Dixie Rd., is a soul food restaurant with a southern flare.

“Honey is just as she is, something sweet,” the new restaurant posted on its Instagram account. “She is soul food, taking you on a trip down south with the Cajun flavours, Creole vibes and bourbon infusions. It’s all about food that makes you feel at home.”

Options under the Breaking Bread part of the menu include a Jack’d Up chicken sandwich, featuring Jack Daniels Cajun battered chicken with coleslaw and pickles on a sweet biscuit.

The resto also offers a Big Kahuna made with two smash jerk patties, pineapples, cheese, lettuce, pickles, Cajun mayo and mango drizzle.

The menu also boasts a braised brisket sandwich and a braised brisket mac with a five-cheese blend, pulled braised brisket and a signature glaze. Diners can also try a loaded mac or Mama’s OG Lasagna, consisting of ground beef with spinach and a five-cheese blend.

“Sidetings” include loaded mac, poutine and cornbread, and you can all wash it down with some coconut water or sweet teas.

Pizzeria Rosso  —  121 Lakeshore Rd W.

The team at Italian eatery Ombretta Cucina & Vino recently announced their brand new restaurant concept: Pizzeria Rosso, a pizzeria patio and bar set to open in Port Credit.

With their glass roof, the restaurant promises to be the GTA’s “first covered outdoor pizzeria and bar.”
