5 Halloween happenings in Hamilton this weekend

Happy Hallowe’en, Hamilton!

This weekend’s weather is looking a little rainy Friday night and Saturday but hopefully, by Sunday, things will clear up just in time for trick-or-treating.

In the meantime, there’s still plenty to do around Hamilton to get your spook on. No matter what you get up to to celebrate, stay safe!

Hamilton’s Playhouse Cinema is offering a full schedule of haunting films including The Shining and Night of the Living Dead Rocky Horror Picture Show and Westdale Cinema is also screening the cult classic Rocky Horror all weekend long. The Zoetic on Concession is also screening Rocky Horror this weekend. The Electric Diner in Hess Village is hosting a Halloween movie night on Sunday featuring Ghostbusters I and II.

There are a number of Halloween-themed parties at Hamilton bars. The Casbah will host a ‘Nightmare on King Street Costume Party’ Sunday night, while Absinthe’s Devil’s Night – Halloween Drag Show & Party takes place on Saturday night. At The Staircase, two parties with two terrifying themes are taking place on Sunday night as well and admission is free. Check out Hometown Hub for even more spooky listings.


3. Check out the Bulldogs in Stealth and Zombie modes!

The Hamilton Bulldogs are playing two darkly-themed games this weekend at home: the first is Friday night against the Niagara Ice Dogs at 7 p.m. and they will be playing in their new dark jerseys for ‘Stealth Mode.’ The the Bulldogs face off against the Mississauga Steelheads on Saturday at 4 pm for their Zombie game. Saturday’s game is sponsored by Welch’s Fruit Snacks, which will be handed out at the game. There are also some locally designed zombified Bulldogs merchandise available to purchase at this weekend’s games. Visit the team’s website for more information.

Most of Hamilton’s BIAs have special family-friendly events scheduled for the weekend. Concession Street businesses will be handing out candy throughout the weekend, Waterdown BIA hosts its annuals scarecrow hunt; the Ottawa Street BIA also has some spooky plans in the works. 1. Go on a haunted Hamilton adventure

Tourism Hamilton has come up with a list of haunted sites across the city and provides a little background info on their terrifying backgrounds. The Dundas Museum is also hosting a ghost walk through downtown Dundas this weekend which will explore some of the community’s ghost stories. Check out the museum’s website for more details. Also, the Active Parents website is also a great resource for mapping out some family-friendly spooky weekend fun in the Hamilton area.
