5 evacuated from house fire, victim in stable condition in Caledon

Paramedics are treating one person and several more have been evacuated due to a house fire in Caledon.

The blaze happened around 8 a.m. at a home on Airport Road just south of Charleston Side Road in Caledon, according to Caledon Fire & Emergency Services.

Firefighters say five people escaped the house fire thanks to working smoke alarms but one person had to be rescued from the second floor of the home.

Emergency crews said the victim was in stable condition and was being cared for by paramedics on the scene.

Caledon Fire & Emergency Services says the fire has been extinguished and added the flames could have spread further if not for a closed door in the basement.

Traffic in the area may be impacted while emergency crews are on the scene and drivers should avoid the area and find alternate routes if possible.

The blaze has firefighters reminding residents to regularly check their smoke detectors and alarms to make sure they are in working condition.
