5 evacuated from house fire in Oakville

A fire broke out at a two-storey home in Oakville late Sunday morning.

Firefighters responded to Wilder Drive near Lakeshore Road and Fourth Line after reports of heavy black smoke and flames coming from a room above the garage.

Oakville Fire Department arrived at the scene and quickly contained the blaze.

Five occupants were safely evacuated and no injuries were reported. It remains unclear whether the individuals were rescued by emergency services or had already exited the home before firefighters arrived.

The cause of the fire and the extent of property damage remain under investigation.
