Every good New Year’s Eve celebration should be followed by a classy, fulsome brunch full of creative dishes and flavourful mimosas. Even if you party hard — really, really hard — there should be some room (maybe a lot) in your alcohol-fatigued body for eggs Benedict and late morning/early afternoon champagne (with orange juice, of course).

If you’re looking for some brunch options on New Year’s Day, Mississauga has a few gems worth checking out. 5) Breakwater Restaurant

The Breakwater Restaurant is located in the Waterside Inn, a boutique hotel situated in the south side of Mississauga in Port Credit. If you want a decadent breakfast on New Year’s Day, you can enjoy one here, as the resto will be open at 8:00 a.m. If you don’t have a reservation, you might want to show up early to secure a table. The breakfast menu features a continental breakfast plate, eggs Benedict, pancakes, French toast dipped in vanilla custard, omelettes, a chorizo sausage hash skillet and more.

4) Paramount Fine Foods

Paramount Fine Foods boasts several Mississauga locations and, believe it or not, offers diners a Middle Eastern breakfast menu. If you’re looking for something a little more niche on New Year’s Day, you can enjoy a traditional meal of eggs and sausage or foul (a dish with chick peas, fava beans, lemon juice and fresh garlic served with a side of vegetables) or fatteh (chick peas, hummus sauce, fried pita topped with melted butter and fried nuts or, if you’re in the mood, beef shawarma). 3) Bobby’s Hideaway

If you’re looking for an iconic greasy spoon, you might want to check out Streetsville favourite Bobby’s Hideaway.  Spacious and casual, this joint has big, hearty dishes that will cure even the nastiest and more resilient of hangovers. If you’re in the mood for Bobby’s, note that they’ll be opening at 9 am (rather than the usual 7 am) on New Year’s Day. You should also note that the resto’s brand new Port Credit location will also be opening at 9 am, so head over if you need some eggs and bacon to cure your hangover. 2) Taza Grill

If you’re staying at the Four Points by Sheraton in the Meadowvale area, note that you can hit up in-house restaurant Taza Grill for breakfast on New Year’s Day. Taza has entrances from within the hotel and the parking lot, making the restaurant easily accessible for its hotel guests and outsiders alike–so you can still try the resto even if you’re not a guest at the hotel. The breakfast buffet is open from 8 am to noon and features a three egg omelette, bacon and eggs, buttermilk panckes, eggs Benedict, French toast and more.

1) Glen Erin Inn

If you want to enjoy an elegant New Year’s Day brunch, you might want to check out the Glenerin Inn. This year’s New Year’s Day brunch menu features fresh rolls, scrambled eggs, a chef’s selection carving station, pasta, a seafood platter, a domestic cheese platter, pastries, fruit and more. The brunch $36.95 for adults and $26.95 for children. The buffet-style brunch will be available between noon and 3 pm.
