Mississauga residents feeling the holiday spirit should be sure to pay a visit to the beautiful lakeside community of Port Credit – one of the city’s best shopping and tourism destinations all year round.

This holiday season, discover the perfect gift in one of Port Credit’s many shops, grab a meal or a hot chocolate at their restaurants and cafes, and take in the charming light installations as you stroll the beautifully decorated Main Street. There’s so much worth checking out!

Here are five big things Port Credit is doing to celebrate:

Main Street Winter Décor

It’s not the holidays without twinkling lights and beautiful décor, which you’ll find all throughout Port Credit’s Main Street. Take a stroll along Lakeshore Rd (between Maple Ave. and Beechwood Ave.) and take in the sights: Fairy lights wrapped around grapevines in potted planters, beautifully lit snowmen and reindeer in raised planters, and much more.

Street Animation

For those perfectly Instagrammable holiday photos, be sure to get a pic at one of Port Credit’s uniquely decorated areas. These spots have some amazing decorations that you won’t find anywhere else in the city:

  • Rowboat at the Port Credit Marina: A wooden rowboat set to be Santa’s alternative plan for this holiday season.
  • Jeep at Port St. Market: A Red Jeep stacked with a tower of presents, all decked out for a family holiday in the mountains.
  • White Winter Wonderland at Queen Bea’s Lookout: A beautifully scenic, all white winter wonderland with pine trees, snowflakes, and more.

Strolling Santa

Don’t be shy, say hi! Santa Claus himself will be strolling down Lakeshore on multiple Saturdays in December. Be sure to share your holiday wishes and snap a picture with him on the following dates:

  • December 11: 12 pm to 3 pm
  • December 18: 11 am to 2 pm (East Village) and 3 pm to 6 pm (West Village)

Free Main Street Parking

If you hate the struggle of finding somewhere to park, you’re in luck this holiday season. To support their small businesses, Port Credit is offering free parking from November 25th, 2021 to January 14th, 2022 all along Lakeshore between Maple Ave. and Beechwood Ave. Don’t worry about parking meters, just get out there, shop, dine, and have fun!

Frosty Finale

Port Credit’s winter fun doesn’t end right after the holidays – they’re keeping the party going all the way until the Frosty Finale on January 29th, 2022. Strolling ice characters, wood-carving demos, an outdoor cocktail bar, ice painting, live music, and kids’ activities await! And to help keep you toasty, there will also be warming stations complete with fire bowls, comfy chairs, and a hot beverage station on the street. You can find it all happening from Elizabeth St. S. to Port St. S. on January 29th from 2 to 7 pm.

Residents in a giving mood can also help “Cram the Ram” with donations of food, toiletries, and gifts. In partnership with Peel Chrysler, all nonperishable donations collected will be given to the Compass Food Bank. The goal is to completely fill up the Dodge Ram, which will be on site at the Port St. Market from 11 am to 2 pm on Saturday, December 11.

There’s so much happening at Port Credit for the holidays! For more information, visit portcredit.com and follow the Port Credit BIA on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
