5 Bakeries to Visit Outside of Mississauga

Everyone loves a nice sweet treat every once and awhile… or maybe it’s just me.

Whether you’re having a bad week, a good week, or just need a sugary pick-me-up, going to a local bakery somehow always seems to make things better.

If you’re feeling like going for a drive outside of the Mississauga Region while simultaneously feeling like a sugary snack, we’ve got just what you need.

Here are the top five bakeries you should visit outside the Mississauga Region.


5. Killer Cupcakes Goremet

Guelph

Who doesn’t love a good cupcake, am I right? At Killer Cupcakes Goremet, there are over 100 cupcake flavours for customers to try. Some of these flavours include ‘Truffle Shuffle’, a dark chocolate cupcake filled with caramel whipped cream, and topped with dark chocolate frosting, and ‘Salted Johnny Cashew’, a vanilla cupcake with salted cashews, caramel, and topped with caramel cream cheese. At Killer Cupcakes Goremet you’ll also find a variety of dessert cakes including layered cakes (flavours can include lavender, Oreo sprinkle, strawberry shortcake cheesecake, and more), vintage Bundt cakes, and whipped cheesecake cups.

Killer Cupcakes Goremet is located at 32A Wilson St. in Guelph and is open Wednesday to Sunday from 10 a.m. until the store is sold out.


4. Willow Cakes & Pastries

Niagara-on-the-Lake

At Willow Cakes & Pastries, located in Niagara-on-the-Lake, customers have the opportunity to experience an impressive boutique and the feel of a local bakery. At this bakery you’ll find breads, cakes, chocolates, and more. This bakery also caters, providing platters of mini pastures perfect for any event.

This bakery is open daily from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. except during the summer months when hours are extended to 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

3. Artsy Baker

Aurora

Artsy Baker is truly one of a kind. The bakery specializes in gourmet donuts, custom cakes, and sweet tables. This nut-free company also has gluten-free and vegan options so everyone can enjoy their treats! A few of their donut flavours include maple bacon (if this doesn’t scream Canadian then I don’t know what will), apple crumble, sprinkles, and s’mores please.

The bakery is open from Monday to Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturdays 10 a.m. to 2 p.m., and is closed on Sundays.

2. Donut Monster

Hamilton

This shop only opened its doors in 2018, but its popularity in the city has grown quite fast. Donut Monster sells fresh donuts - the flavour menu is always changing, coffee, tea, and milkshakes are being launched soon.

Donut Monster, located at 246 Locke Street South in Hamilton, is open from 7 a.m. until 6 p.m., or until they’re sold out, seven days a week

1. Phipps Bakery Cafe

Toronto

This bakery, located at 420 Eglinton Ave. Win Toronto, sells fresh, made-from-scratch comfort food such as bite-sized treats (butter tarts anyone?), bread, soups, cakes, pies, and more. Phipps has been around for more than 30 years, and it’s no wonder why people have kept coming back. If you’re planning on taking a trip to Toronto soon, this bakery is a must!

Phipps is open Monday through Saturday from 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
