4 year-old child killed by a GO Train in Mississauga

A child has been struck and killed by a train in Mississauga.

Peel Police announced the death around 9 p.m. July 26. The child was hit near Lolita Gdns and Silver Creek Blvd, a quiet residential neighbourhood.

The call to the cops came in at 7:40 p.m a little more than an hour before the police announcement. When officers arrived they pronounced the child dead on scene.

The are few details available at the moment. Police have confirmed no details, the age and the gender of the deceased child remain unknown.

Update: Mississauga Fire confirmed a GO train struck the child. They said the collision took place closer to Dundas St and Cawthra Rd, the larger intersection nearby.

Update 2: Mayor Bonnie Crombie has commented on the death. “The loss of a child is nothing short of a tragedy and my heart goes out to their family and loved ones as they grieve this indescribable and immeasurable loss,” she said.

Update 3: The paramedics rendered assistance but the child died at the scene. 12 Division Peel Police, Metrolinx and CP Rail are heading the investigation. Peel police are asking for any witnesses to come forward. The family is asking for privacy at this moment.
