4 romantic Airbnbs where guests have ‘popped the question’ in Ontario

Marriage proposals are on the rise in Airbnbs and there are four romantic getaway spots in Ontario where the guests popped the question.
Since 2018, references to proposals at Airbnbs have more than tripled, according to guest reviews, Airbnb said in a press release.
In fact, one mountain-top guest house in Colorado has hosted more than 100 such magical moments, the release states.
With Valentine’s Day around the corner, Airbnb has rounded up a selection of homes that have hosted the most marriage proposals, according to guest reviews.
“From cozy cabins with fully equipped kitchens to rural hideaways with hot tubs and spectacular views these homes have offered the perfect setting to pop the ultimate question,” the release states.
Here are four Ontario Airbnbs where guests got engaged during a stay (according to reviews):
Mono — Cabin in the Woods Experience

Located Mono, about an hour from Orangeville this “cozy cabin in the woods” is set on a private pond offering an escape from the noise and distractions of the city.
The hosts of this cabin even say in the listing that is well-suited for a romantic proposal weekend.
“Perfect location to propose, and they even got us a small gift to celebrate the occasion. An unforgettable experience,” one reviewer wrote.
The Water’s Edge — Unique Muskoka Treehouse
This rustic cottage has made for a memorable moment with many couples, according to Airbnb. Located in Utterson, on the shores of one of Muskoka’s most stunning lakes, the cottage offers lake views through picture windows, a hammock on the deck, a two-sided fireplace and an outdoor hot tub.
The quiet setting has prompted a few proposals.
“This trip was a very special one for us. I proposed to my fiancée out on the deck. It was timeless, it was serene, it was the most perfect getaway,” one guest wrote. “We’ll be coming back to relive our special moment years down the road!”
Treehouse in a private, isolated forest
Only about an hour away from the city, this treehouse in Port Perry feels like its a thousand miles from Toronto. The very private space has several ponds for swimming, gazebo and fire pits.
“With 300 acres at your door step, you can choose not to see another soul during your stay or venture to a nearby winery, restaurants, shopping, horse farms, golf courses or ski hills,” the listing reads.
The seclusion makes it a wonderful spot for couples.
“Perfect romantic getaway, very secluded,” one guest wrote.
This enchanting yurt located in Yarker (north of Kingston) offers a quiet spot to reconnect with nature all year round. The yurt is nestled in the woods and perfect for a romantic holiday.
The host, Jennifer, says there have been 10 proposals at the outdoor oasis.
“it was the perfect combination of cozy, peaceful, romantic, and FUN!” one guest wrote.
