$4.4M drug bust and money laundering probe leads to charge for Mississauga man

Mounties say a drug bust where over $4 million worth of drugs and more than $1 million in cash has led to charges for multiple suspects including a man from Mississauga.

The RCMP says the 18-month long investigation into alleged drug trafficking and money laundering was launched by the Organized Crime unit in Hamilton-Niagara, and led to over 30 search warrants.

Investigators say they seized over 150 kilograms of cocaine, 10 kilograms of heroin, half a kilogram of ketamine, and nearly $1.6 million in bulk Canadian currency.

The total estimated value of the drugs is over $4.4 million, and one prohibited firearm and one vehicle were also recovered.

Six suspects have been arrested in connection with drug trafficking, while one suspect is wanted on a drug-related warrant.

The RCMP says Austin Le, 30, of Mississauga, Panagiotis Cheliotis, 52, of Quebec, Robert Pinnsoneault, 36, of Montreal, Valeria Masas-Montano, 32, and Quoc Nguyen, 38, and Yeung Cheung, 48, of Quebec, have all been arrested and charged.

Mounties didn’t say when the arrests took place, or when the accused had made court appearances.
