Magdolna Kovac and her “big, wonderful family” are $3 million richer after the Hamilton grandmother hit the lottery jackpot.

Kovac won the seven-figure price playing the Instant Prestige game, which the 30-year lottery player plays regularly. She bought the ticket at Big Bee Convenience and Food Mart on Upper Gage Ave., on Hamilton Mountain.

“This is my first big win,” Kovac noted while at the OLG Prize Centre in Toronto to collect her winnings. “I saw the Big Winner screen and I was speechless.

“When I told my husband he thought I was losing it,” Kovac added with a laugh. “I started to cry when I told him because it was overwhelming. It’s slowly starting to feel real.”

Kovac added that she plans to share her win with family members.

“I have a big, wonderful family that I plan to share with,” she said. “And my grandchildren will have their education paid for.”

Instant Prestige is Ontario Lottery and Gaming game no. 2201. OLG books in-person prize claim appointments for customers with prizes of at least $50,000 at its prize centre in Toronto. It strongly encourages those with claims between $1,000 and $49,999.90 to submit them online or mail them in.
