A 37-year-old man has been charged in relation to an ‘attempted’ carjacking that occurred during a buy and sell exchange in Mississauga yesterday (July 18).
According to Peel Regional Police, the incident took place at 9:30 p.m.; the victim arranged to meet an individual in the vicinity of Tomken Rd and Bloor St E.
To finalize the sale of their vehicle, which was listed online.
Upon arriving at the agreed-upon location, the victim was confronted by two individuals, both brandishing knives and demanding the victim’s vehicle.
Police say, after a brief struggle, both fled the area on foot, and the victim sustained no injuries.
Following a coordinated operation, police were able to apprehend one of the suspects, Borhan Radwan.
Radwan, from Mississauga, was taken into custody and is now facing multiple criminal charges including robbery, possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose and mischief over $5000.
The second individual involved in the robbery remains outstanding, according to police.
In light of this incident, authorities ask residents to exercise caution and consider conducting transactions at designated buy & sell exchange zones.
