37-year-old Hamilton man arrested after assault leaves victim in critical condition

A 37-year old man has been arrested in connection with an assault that took place at J.C Beemer Park on June 22, leaving a 45-year-old man with life-threatening injuries.

The incident, occurred shortly before 9:30 a.m. on Thursday morning which was reported on a 911 call.

Officers arrived at the scene within minutes, however, the suspect fled before they could reach the vicinity.

Authorities found the victim in the pavilion area of the park and immediately initiated life-saving measures.

The 45-year-old man, whose identity has not been released, remains in a critical condition.

Within an hour after the incident, Hamilton Police were able to arrest Craig Brooks and aggravated assault charges have been laid.

Brooks is currently in custody and police say that they are not seeking any additional suspects in connection with the incident.
