Emergency services are still on scene after a major fire ripped through a Mississauga townhouse and displaced numerous residents on Sunday, June 5.

The incident was initially reported shortly after 2 p.m. as a third-alarm fire at 2869 Battleford Rd near Glen Erin Dr.

The fire extended into the attic/roof area, causing significant damage.

36 units were impacted by fire, smoke and/or water damage, with residents evacuated from the building and from multiple neighbouring houses.

No injuries have been reported.

Crews remained at the scene overnight and are continuing to work with the Office of the Fire Marshal today (June 6) to investigate the cause and origin of the fire.

Residents impacted by the fire have been advised to contact their insurance provider or to attend the Meadowvale Community Centre, where social services, the office of emergency management, and the Canadian Red Cross will assist with shelter, food, clothing and medication where required.

As of Monday morning, crews are still onsite assisting residents with getting access to their personal effects and pets.
