A 33-year-old man drowned while swimming in an Ontario lake this week, police say.
Ontario Provincial Police’s Kawartha Lakes detachment said they’re investigating the incident which occurred in Lake Dalrymple.
Emergency crews were called to the scene at around 7:55 p.m. Tuesday for reports of a missing swimmer.
“A 33-year-old male had been on a boat with two others when he got off the boat to swim and did not resurface afterwards,” OPP said.
“A life jacket was not being used at the time.”
On Wednesday, the OPP’s underwater search and recovery unit went to the lake and the man was recovered.
He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead, police said.
“The OPP would like to thank members of the public who provided assistance,” officers said.
