A 32-storey condo building that will bring 418 units to Mississauga is making headway.

Developer Edenshaw first proposed the project at 1 Fairview Rd. E., in the city centre in a green space at Fairview Road and Hurontario Street in 2020.

The development, known as Alba, will include 414 condo units and four townhomes. The suites, now sold out, will range in size from 420 square feet to 850 square feet. There is also retail space planned for the ground level.

The geothermal building will have a  lower carbon footprint.

“Geothermal buildings such as Alba will see a carbon reduction of about 80 per cent, compared to a similar building heated by natural gas,” Carmen Gerasolo, sales manager of Edenshaw Developments told insauga.com in 2021.

Amenities include a fitness centre, yoga studio, a fireplace lounge, a rooftop terrace, a co-working and business centre, plus a pet spa and outdoor dog run.

The property is 650 metres north of Cooksville GO Station, and will be at the Fairview stop on the future Hurontario LRT.

The building recently made progress, including a massive excavation to accommodate eight levels of underground parking and wells for the geothermal cooling and heating system, according to a July 31 post from Urban Toronto.

The project is aiming to be complete in late 2024.
