Will an elevated water storage tank loom on the horizon in Pelham soon?

At the moment, Niagara Region is undergoing a Class Environmental Assessment for a new tank and transmission system upgrade.

Common in rural communities, elevated water storage tanks feed from aquifers below the surface and are connected to homes and businesses.

Since it is the region that will be installing it, the tiny town of 17,000 would likely not share in any costs for the installation.

This project is part of the recommended improvements from the recent Niagara Regional Water and Wastewater Master Servicing Plan to the Pelham Water System.

The purpose of this project and study is to address adequate storage, system pressure and capacity to support growth.

A virtual Public Information Centre is scheduled for August 31 from 6 pm to 8 pm.
