30mm of rain possible and flooding expected in Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville and Milton

A special weather statement is calling for heavy rain to hit Mississauga, Brampton, Hamilton, Burlington, Oakville and Milton very soon.

Periods of heavy rainfall will begin Family Day evening (Monday, Feb. 21) and continue through to Tuesday evening, with total rainfall amounts of 15 to 30 mm possible.

The frozen ground will have a reduced ability to absorb the rainfall, which could lead to localized flooding in some areas.

Additionally, freezing rain is expected in Caledon, with ice accretion possible as a result.

The rain should subside by Wednesday, Feb. 23.
