$300,000 in gold, silver bars swiped from St. Catharines home

Gold and silver bars worth an estimated $300,000 were stolen from a home in St. Catharines midway last month, police say.

Niagara Regional Police Service (NRPS) say they are investigating a reported theft that occurred in the area of Maywood Avenue and Hiscott Street in St. Catharines. They received a report on July 16.

It is believed nine gold bars and five silver bars were stolen on July 14 between 1 and 3:30 p.m.

The gold and silver are stamped with serial numbers. The gold bars may have a serial number between the ranges of:

807850 – 807874
801450 – 801474

The matter was assigned to detectives from the 1 District detective office. The investigation has been ongoing.
