Four people are in custody after dozens of men, some of them allegedly armed with weapons, had a brawl in Brampton on Monday afternoon (Dec. 19).

Peel Regional Police say officers were called to the area of Dewside Dr. and Bramalea Rd. shortly after 12:00 p.m. on Monday for reports of around 30 males fighting with weapons.

Several people are in police custody, and police say multiple weapons were recovered. Police did not comment on what the altercation was about, and no injuries were reported.

There is a heavy police presence in the area while investigators are on scene, and drivers should avoid the area and find alternate routes if possible.

The scuffle is at least the second large fight in Brampton this year.

Back in August, a brawl broke out in a Brampton plaza across from Sheridan College on Steeles Ave and McLaughlin Rd.

Part of the scuffle was caught on video and shows a crowd of people sparring with fists and weapons. One man could be seen wielding what appeared to be a sword and bringing it down over his head on other men in the crowd.

Police charged two men in connection to the fight.

Police are asking anyone who was in the area and may have video or dashcam footage of the incident contact the Peel Regional Police 21 Division at 905-453-2121 ext. 2133.
